...landed his first role in Damn Yankees junior year of high school. Something clicked and he realized theater was his "thing." A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and another round of Damn Yankees peppered his early career as well. He finished out his senior year with The Fantasticks and moved on to college at Butler University in Indianapolis where he was never allowed to touch another musical. While at Butler, Hamlet, The Appearance of Impropriety, Blood Wedding, Hamletmachine and A Mouthful of Birds constituted some of his favorite shows. He also made some appearances at the Indiana Repertory Theater in Ah, Wilderness and Grapes of Wrath. The Phoenix Theater offered him roles in Praying for Rain where he played a thug named Chris who beats a homosexual to death and The Goat wherein he portrayed Billy, the gay son of a man who had sexual relations with a goat. He has also performed with a company called NoExit in a show known as FeMENism, part of which included filming himself spitting into a cup until it was full and then drinking it all. After earning his B.A. in Theater he felt fully prepared to start his career at Starbucks where he still serves a mean Caramel Macchiato. Since joining Blank Line Collective, he has been a collaborative creator for the mini-events at MusiCircus and Looptopia, as well as The Fete and The Helpless Doorknob, BLC main events. Jason does not understand all the intricacies and idiosyncrasies of human existence (like why everyone finds the smallest room at a party and then stays there, or why we have separation of church and state but require court witnesses swear on a Bible, or why everything sounds more sexy in a non-American accent) but hopes to explore and challenge aforementioned intricacies and idiosyncrasies through this medium of theater and bring the audience along for the ride. He will do anything you ask if you give him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. |
